Leatherback Bearded Dragon For Sale Canada

A Leatherback Bearded Dragon for sale Canada is Pogona vitticeps carrying the incomplete dominant Leatherback trait, which smooths and reduces the raised tubercle scales along the dorsal ridge of the back while leaving the sides, limbs, and head with their normal spiky texture, a combination that gives this morph a distinctive half-smooth, half-spiked appearance.

Buyers searching for a Leatherback Bearded Dragon for sale Canada should know this trait is expressed in an incomplete dominant manner, meaning a single copy of the gene produces the Leatherback phenotype, while two copies produce the fully scaleless silkback, a much more fragile outcome that responsible breeders generally avoid producing intentionally due to its known hydration and shedding challenges. Every Leatherback Bearded Dragon for sale Canada we offer comes from single-gene lines, and we state the documented genetic background of each animal so buyers know exactly what they are purchasing.

Feeding for a Leatherback Bearded Dragon for sale Canada follows the same omnivorous diet as any Pogona vitticeps, a combination of appropriately sized, gut-loaded insects such as crickets or dubia roaches for juveniles and a greater proportion of leafy greens and vegetables as the animal matures into adulthood, and we track and share individual feeding history for every animal so new owners know exactly what to continue at home.

Because the reduced scalation on a Leatherback can make these dragons somewhat more prone to moisture loss than a fully scaled normal, we recommend keepers pay a little extra attention to hydration and humidity support compared to a standard dragon, though this is a minor adjustment rather than a significant care burden.

CFIA live animal import and permission requirements

Like all bearded dragons, a Leatherback Bearded Dragon for sale Canada is a diurnal, basking desert lizard native to the arid regions of central Australia, requiring a spacious horizontal enclosure with a strong basking spot, a proper UVB bulb replaced on a regular schedule, and a clear day and night lighting cycle. Temperament in this species is widely regarded as one of the most docile and interactive of any commonly kept reptile, tolerating regular, confident handling well, and the Leatherback trait specifically is known for making whatever base color the animal carries appear noticeably brighter and cleaner than it would on a fully spiked dragon of the same color line.

Quality Assurance, Genetic Documentation, and Longevity

Every animal listed goes through a pre-sale health and condition assessment covering body weight, skin and shed quality, limb and tail condition, and feeding consistency, with any animal not yet established on a proper UVB and diet routine held back for further care before being offered for sale.

Because we intentionally avoid breeding Leatherback to Leatherback specifically to prevent producing silkbacks, every animal in this listing carries a single confirmed copy of the gene, and we disclose documented parentage so buyers and future breeders know the exact genetic makeup behind each animal.

A well cared for Bearded Dragon typically lives ten to twelve years in captivity, and this lifespan is unaffected by the Leatherback trait itself, though consistent attention to hydration, UVB exposure, calcium supplementation, and a balanced insect-to-greens ratio remain essential care priorities across that lifespan.
